What this checker looks at
This checker loads one page and reads it the way a search engine does: the title tag, meta description, H1, canonical URL, structured data, word count, and how many internal versus external links it has. It then runs the same on-page issue detection Winking Toad's full crawler uses, so a single page gets the identical checks a 100-page audit would apply to every page.
Why title, meta description and canonical matter
The title and meta description are what a searcher actually reads in Google's results before they click — a missing or generic one is a lost chance to earn the click even when the page ranks. The canonical URL tells Google which version of a page is the "real" one when several URLs could show the same content (with or without a trailing slash, with tracking parameters, and so on); without it, ranking strength can split across near-duplicate URLs instead of building up one.
Why structured data and word count are checked
Structured data (Schema.org markup) is what lets a page qualify for rich results in Google — star ratings, FAQ dropdowns, product pricing — rather than a plain blue link. Word count is a rough proxy for whether a page actually says enough about its topic; a page with very little text usually struggles to rank for anything beyond its exact title, since there's little for a search engine to match against real queries.
What to do with the results
Anything marked as an error is worth fixing first — these are the checks most likely to be actively hurting how the page is found or understood. Warnings are real but lower-priority: worth fixing, but not usually the reason a page fails to rank at all. If you want this same check run across your whole site instead of one page at a time, a free account covers up to 100 URLs per crawl.
